Have you ever stumbled across something so good, that you can’t believe you never knew about it before? It’s a rare & delicious feeling. I was lucky enough to get to experience that feeling this weekend, when a friend introduced me to the Falls Creek Falls trail.
Located on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, the trail meanders alongside a mossy, fast-flowing creek.
Delicate treasures dot the sides of the trail, soaking up the mist rising from the water. Thanks to the fact that there were few other hikers on the trail, there were plenty of opportunities to stop & capture them all.
The view from the lower falls are breathtaking, and a cooling mist lifts from the falls.
The mist settles, and the landscape glows with dewdrops. After taking in the falls (and taking way too many pictures), we scurried up along a makeshift path, to where the falls began.
Scrambling up a bit further, we were rewarded with a view of the mountains, and stumbled across a perfectly isolated camping spot, which will hopefully be returned to in the near future.
The trail opened as of April 1st, so I recommend checking it out for yourself.
